Holiday Inn Al Khobar

We at Holiday Inn are located in one of the most attractive areas of Al Khobar. Once a small fishing port, today the city is a large and bustling economic metropolis, and an important centre for the oil industry. It is also one of Saudi Arabias leading tourist resorts, and with a large ex-patriot community living and working there, meeting rooms are hired out for both business and pleasure purposes.

Once an ancient port, the present city plan dates from 1942, when the municipality of Al Khobar was founded following the arrival of oil. It rapidly grew into an important centre of commerce, and in recent years has attracted a large expatriate contingent, that is lured by the clean beaches, high standards of living and ready availability of work. The largest employer is the oil giant Saudi Aramco. The nearby town of Damman houses SAs second largest port, which is another major employer. Add to this the shops, hospitals, restaurants, banks and tourist attractions of Al Khobar itself; its easy to see why business centres like ours at Holiday Inn are so in demand.

Al Khobar has 3 main commercial areas: Khobar, Subekha and Thuqba. The third district, Aqrabia, is mainly residential. We at Holiday Inn occupy an attractive position on Old Airport Road, a few minutes from the chic, palm-lined Corniche which lines the seafront. The spectacular 16 mile King Fahd Causeway, linking Khobar to the island country and international airport of Bahrain, is close by. King Fahd International Airport offers an alternative route into and out of the city, with a network of roads connecting to other Saudi cities.

Al Khobar bristles with commerce, industry and tourism, and has been radically altered in recent years to enhance its non-industrial areas. It boasts a large number of shopping malls, markets, restaurants and banks, with pleasant residential areas and beautiful beaches. The chic, Corniche promenade is a major tourist attraction, attractively tiled and lined with cafes, restaurants and hotels. It was built following the wise decision to relocate the major flow of industrial shipping to nearby Damman and Ras Tanura, the dedicated port for Saudi Aramco. Though Al Khobar harbour still handles passenger and cargo traffic, it has allowed the city to recreate itself as a centre for tourism and light commerce.

We at Holiday Inn offer a unique service to those arriving from abroad on business. A corporate hospitality tour could take in the beaches, traditional souks and beautiful waterfront mosque, while a night-time drive to the man-made island on King Fahd Causeway offers an unforgettable view of the twinkling city skyline; a pleasant surprise to delegates who know the region only for the oil refineries, factories and industrial ports of neighbouring Dhahran and Dammam.

Our state-of-the-art, air-conditioned conference rooms offer every business service, yet are an easy walk from the Corniche promenade and Dhahran and Al Rashed shopping malls. Away from the meeting rooms, you can enjoy a cooling swim, a relaxing spa treatment, or a work-out in the air-conditioned gym making Holiday Inn Al Khobar the perfect place for your trip.
