subject: 5 Situations To Cause Stress For Any Parent [print this page]

Being a parent may be fun, enjoyable and rewarding but it can also be tough... really tough! There are some normal situations that will arise in every family when you are bringing up kids that will test your patience to the limit!

Perhaps you havent got as far as having any children of your own yet? If so, then dont let any of this put you off the thought of starting a family; they may be hard work, but the good still outweighs the bad... honest.

The Photo Shoot.

Okay, so the idea was to get some nice, professional family photos taken. You know the sort; everyone sitting in front of an unobtrusive backdrop, looking like components of the ideal family. Yup, simple enough, but the lead up to it can be a nightmare! Tantrums over an uncool Boys shirt, promises of an ice cream if smiles are maintained through the photo session. Aargh!

Sports Day.

Maybe schools actually enjoy submitting parents to this palaver! Hundreds of excited children wanting to win their races and only a handful that actually will. Disappointment is bound to ensue and mum and dad must be there to pick up the pieces. Should we really be encouraging our children to be so competitive?

The Summer Holidays.

Weeks of freedom for your little angels and plenty of excuses for them to get under your feet!

They will be quite happy for the first few days and then the boredom will set in. I cant find anything to do! they complain. And it will be a parents duty to provide some form of entertainment.

But the biggest irony of all is that the place they loathe so much with all of its booorrrring lessons will give them back their happiness! After their first day back they will return to their normal contented selves.

The Visit to Your Parents.

Kids have a natural ability to embarrass their parents and they will demonstrate this skill when you are the least prepared. If you are planning to take them to see Grandma and Granddad, then be prepared! They are very likely to come out with some little nugget of information that will make you cringe. If there is anything you would rather not tell your parents about (like your overdraft or your plans to let your daughter get her ears pierced), then this could quite likely slip out in the middle of a conversation...

A Special Occasion.

Okay, so your family have been invited to a wedding and you want the kids to look nice. Surely that isnt such a big deal? Think again! Children can manage to take on a far more scruffy appearance within a matter of minutes. You may well miss out on a lot of the celebrations because you are so busy making sure that your son doesnt drop ketchup down his white Boys shirt. Never mind, you didnt really want to chat to any of the other guests, did you?
