Using Dieting As A Weight Loss Catalyst

Being considered obese is not a fun thing, and that's what happens to you when you are overweight. When your body stores a lot of fat and you aren't doing the right things to burn it off like exercising regularly, you might have to cop to the fact that you have a problem which needs to be addressed. If you've ever heard of the BMI or Body Mass Index, this is what is used to measure Obesity within the fitness and medical professions. BMI is calculated when you divide your weight by your height and then square the result. If you have a BMI of 25-29 kg. you are considered to be overweight by medical standards.

Being overweight is a dangerous phenomenon and something you need to address as quickly as you find out you are obese. And the higher your BMI is, the larger chance you have of a heart attack or a stroke, as well as Diabetes which can lead to blindness, loss of limbs and a myriad of other negative things. The idea of being slim is considered what's hot and happening in society today. Obese individuals are viewed by their colleagues as lazy even though that might not really be the case. Also obese people might have to get their clothes at specialty shops and may end up paying a lot more than if you bought your clothes from Wal Mart for example.

So what kinds of positive effects will diet have on your life? Weight Loss as well as Dieting usually always have a direct correlation to each other. The more you learn about proper dieting the more successful you will be. When you go shopping you should take some extra time and check out all the labels on everything you buy. Look specifically for the ratio between the amount of sugar, carbohydrates and protein on everything you buy.

Pay attention to the popular food pyramid. There are plenty of dieting books at the public library you can check out that will have a picture of this. Also the FDA has this on their website. Remember Dieting is not synonymous with starvation. You can eat great, feel full and not be hurting yourself. The key here is to cook with healthier oils like olive oil and to avoid all animal fats. That doesn't mean you can't have a steak now and then, this is high protein. But shave the fat off meats before you eat them and go for Baked Chicken before Fried Chicken.
