subject: How To Use Wedding Napkins In Impressing Guests On The Reception [print this page]

Wedding napkins have evolved from simple and boring colors into an art piece that matches the color palette of the dinnerware and theme of the room. Wedding napkins come in different types of fabric, colors and designs. Wedding napkins are now placed to hold the silverware, a wedding favor, a flower, or a menu. Because of this, napkin folding became an art. The three most common folds are the rose napkin, the pocket napkin and the lily napkin fold.

The pocket napkin fold is the simplest fold. Brides love this because it gives their wedding reception a simple and clean look. It is the most popular because it can hold the menu, a flower or the wedding favor. First, place the napkin in front with the wrong side up. Fold the bottom edge of the napkin up to 1/3 of the napkin. Fold the top of the napkin, overlapping the bottom edge. Turn it over and fold the left edge up to 1/3 of the napkin. Do the same on the right side and turn it over again. Put the pocket at the bottom to create a large pocket. If you are creating a smaller pocket, flip the napkin back again and fold it in half from right to left.

For garden weddings, the rose or the lily napkin fold is more appropriate. These folds are more intricate, thus impressing the guests.

With the wrong side up, fold all the corners to the center, creating a box and repeat the previous step to create a smaller box. Hold the folds in the middle and turn the napkin over. Fold the corners to the center. Using your finger, hold the folds in the middle then pull out the fabric from each corner creating a petal. For a more intricate design, pull out the fabric for the center of the rose on the bottom of the napkin creating more petals. This is how rose napkins are done. The middle is ideal for placing personalized wedding giveaways.

For the lily napkin fold, place the napkin diagonally in front with the wrong side up. Get the bottom corner and fold it up to the top corner forming a triangle. Take the bottom corners of the triangle and fold it up to the top corner of the triangle creating a diamond with the opening on top. Take the corners that you folded up and fold it down to the bottom. Fold the top of the diamond downwards and fold the same tip again halfway forming a triangle. Get the bottom corners of the triangle, fold them to the back of the napkin and tuck the ends into each other to create a ring. Take the front folds and fold it over then tuck them inside the ring.

Wedding napkins spice up the table. They now serve as accents to the table which coincides with the color and motif of the wedding.
