Lamitek Photopro 13 Laminator Review

There are many laminators available and sometimes it is hard to know which one you should buy. It is always a good idea to get a versatile machine, such as one that can do both hot and cold lamination, while also providing a crystal-clear finish. One such machine is the Lamitek PhotoPro 13 laminator (formerly called the Lamitek PhotoSmart 13). This is an economically priced laminator that would be good for laminating photographs, school projects, signs, and more. This review will talk about some of the PhotoPro 13's features so you can make an informed decision when buying your new laminator.

As the name suggests, the Lamitek PhotoPro 13 laminator is a photo-quality machine that's perfect for laminating photographs. It can laminate lots of other things, too, and it is available for a great price (under $200.00). This laminator can do both hot and cold lamination in pouches from 3 to 10 mil thick. The PhotoPro 13 has a 13-inch throat so it's a good choice if you're planning on laminating larger documents such as maps and menus. (You can laminate items that are up to 12.5" wide.) This machine has four heated rollers that help keep your item flat as it's being laminated. The rollers also prevent your document from being marred by wrinkles and bubbles, so you'll have a beautiful product whenever you use the machine. The PhotoPro 13 also has Teflon-coated heat plates that help prevent adhesive from coating the inside of the laminator, reducing the risk of pouch jams and other mishaps. Using a carrier when laminating can also help prevent pouch jams from happening. However, if there is a pouch jam the PhotoPro's reverse function can help you get the machine unjammed. The PhotoPro 13 is very easy to use because there's only one adjustment dial that is used to operate the machine. And while it's great that the machine is easy to operate, it's too bad that Lamitek didn't give the machine separate controls for heat and laminating speed. Being able to control those factors not only helps you discover the perfect setting for each individual document, it can also speed up the laminating process, saving you time. The PhotoPro 13 has a laminating speed of about 18 inches per minute. For most people this speed should be okay, but higher-volume users might be better off with a faster machine with more settings.

This laminator seems pretty durable and it's housed in an eye-catching blue plastic shell. It comes with a one-year warranty, so if someone goes wrong, you can get it fixed quickly so you can continue laminating.

Overall, the PhotoPro 13 is good for homes, schools, and businesses that want photo-quality lamination for a reasonable price. It's great that it can perform cold lamination and can accept the thicker laminating pouches. (Not all reasonably priced laminators can do that.) However, this machine isn't designed for heavy-duty use. Still, as long as it's being used moderately, it should hold up pretty well. If you need a laminator, considering buying the Lamitek PhotoPro 13 today!
