subject: Positive Parenting Tips, Try These To Get Some Instant Relief! [print this page] If you're a typical parent, you are probably in need of some postive parenting tips. Don't take me the wrong way. I say typical because the average parent has a very, very busy life, and could use some help.
So let's get right to it. The main thing to remember is, your children are people too. They are children for a reason, meaning, they are young, very impressionable, and do not have the life experiences that we do. Even though many children mature rather quickly in this fast paced society of ours, they are still immature in some ways, and at some very inconvenient times.
Another thing to remember is that our children, especially when they are very young, need to feel loved. Sometimes, with our very busy schedules, we forget to show them this every day. It wouldn't be so bad to miss a day every once in a great while. However, with so many of us working extra hours to make ends meet, it can be too easy to miss days. Before you know it, missing this important detail can become more common than actually doing it! So, make it a priority to show them love every day. That way there's no question about missing any days!
Another very important thing is that they need a consistent routine. Children need structure and guidance. If they are left too much to their own devices, they will get into trouble, or at the very least, they will be aimless. This is more true the younger they are. If they are given direction and a purpose, they will probably surprise you in regards to what they can accomplish.
Going along with this is the fact that they require positive attention. If you help them with tasks, and a routine to follow, then be sure to acknowledge their triumphs. It should also be pointed out that it can be detrimental to point out shortcomings, so be very careful with this. Young children especially, will thrive more when you simply point out what they do right, rather than what they do wrong. As you spend time with your children in this way,you can be a good judge of when they will be alright with hearing constructive criticism.
Also going along with this would be the need for good positive role models. For example, if your child saw you as someone who set goals, worked towards them, learned from your mistakes, and ultimately accomplished your goals, and had fun along the way, then they would get so much out of watching all of this. Of course no one is perfect, but it would benefit your child greatly if they were exposed to people who have integrity, and are relatively healthy and happy. This is an area where you may very well be able to motivate yourself to be better for your sake, and for theirs. That was definitely true in my life!
Through all of this, and especially during your busiest of days, things are sure to go awry from time to time. This is when you may feel overwhelmed (if you're not already), and you may need some extra help.
