Holiday Safe: Berlin's Club Scene Is A Big Attraction For Backpackers

With summer approaching, thousands of people are making plans to spend the sunny months backpacking across the globe.

Europe might not seem as exotic as typical backpacking destinations like Thailand, Cambodia or South America, but there is so much to explore in the countries that are right on our doorstep.

Don't hop on that InterRail until you've got sufficient backpacking travel insurance - you'll want to make sure you're covered in case anything happens to your bag, especially considering it's the place you're likely to store your passport, money and tickets.

Berlin is one of the most exciting cities in the whole of Europe. It's the third most-visited city in the European Union, with 135 visits each day. People across the world know about Berlin's political heritage, but many don't know much about its music heritage. In fact, during the unification of the country after the fall of the Berlin Wall, East German DJ Paul van Dyk said that the rave scene was a major force in re-establishing social connections between East and West Germany.

The capital city still has a strong clubbing scene, which draws thousands of dance fans to Berlin. Paul van Dyk has famously said it was a place for one of the first real sub cultures in electronic music. Many people have said that its the liberal licensing laws, late night opening and innovative scene that has made Berlin a worldwide centre for clubbing. It's not unusual for the veteran clubbers to party until sunrise, and move on to another club.

There is an unlimited amount of fun to be had in Berlin, and with the right kind of backpacking insurance, you'll have peace of mind knowing that if something went wrong, you're covered.
