Five Things To Do On Your Holiday In Looe

Lovely Looe is situated in Cornwall, South East England and is divided into East Looe and West Looe, connected by a bridge across the River Looe. East Looe is the busier part, and here you can visit the main shopping area and the busy harbour. In West Looe you will find a quieter environment, which offers great views of Looe Island. This quaint parish enjoys its status as a historic fishing port, and has plenty to offer visitors. There is much to do on holiday in this part of the country with fishing activities, a whole host of restaurants and cafes, shops and various attractions to see. Here are five things that you must do on your holiday in Looe.

1.Looe Harbour Quay: This has been the main highlight of Looe, where fishing boats come back to harbour to unload their catches. Watch different coloured boats pour out all sorts of fish a busy and exciting scene that must be enjoyed by all. Also, the harbour is tidal so twice in every twenty four hours, it experiences both high tide and low tide. This is a constantly changing visual scene not to be missed out on.

2.Looe Island: This half mile island lies off Hannafore Point, south west of Looe. During the lowest tide, it is possible to walk to the island, whereas boats can take you any other time of the year. Also known as St Georges Island, the island housed a monastic community in medieval days. The Atkins sisters bought the island and lived on it for 40 years from 1964, but it is now owned by the Cornwall Wildlife Trust who maintains it as a nature reserve.

3.The Old Guildhall and Goal: Located in East Looe, this is one of Looes oldest buildings, and dates back to the 16th century. The building has been well preserved, and is an excellent way to understand the towns diverse history.

4.Looe Golf Club: For those looking for a spot of golf on your holiday, Looe has a stunning course that comes with a fully licensed bar, dining room, professional shop and changing room facilities.

5.Eden Project: If you are willing to explore further, the Eden Project near St Austell is 35 minutes by car. This is the internationally acclaimed garden housed in tropical biomes.

There are many accommodation options in Looe. Holiday cottages are very popular accommodation options for visitors and can easily be found online.
