Smart Gifts For Smart Kids

What a terrible day it is when you realise that your kids are smarter than you are! For me, that day came when my children were about four. They are shockingly quick at working things out, and there observations are often pretty profound.

In a way Im jealous, but mostly Im proud.

When it comes to buying gifts for my children, there are two main requirements I look for. The first is that the gift must be something my kids will definitely enjoy (preferably together - I try to avoid buying them things that they will fight over!), and the second is that it will encourage them to learn and be creative.

Times are tough for everyone now, but I strongly believe that you can find a great present for a smart kid to fit any budget. Whether its a basic set of paints to nurture their artistic skill, or some kind of computerised learning tool, theres something to suit everyone.

While I was searching for a gift for my sons birthday I did a lot of browsing online. Ive been resorting to online shopping a lot recently, and I love that I can do it from the sofa. I was talking about it with one of my friends, and she helpfully pointed out that when you shop online you can usually find discount codes to knock a little extra off the price of your purchases. Naturally I was interested!

Before long, I had stumbled upon a lot of great sites (like http://www.voucherking.co.uk/categories/gifts-and-gadgets, for example), and was looking at their "Gadgets" Voucher Codes. I was surprised to see that they offer vouchers for a lot of things I usually buy. Some gift ideas could be as follows:

WWF Adopt a Tiger - My son is animal crazy, so the idea that somewhere there is a tiger with his name on it would appeal to him a lot. This is also a charitable gift, so I am considering buying the same sort of thing for other relatives of mine.

Sphereing for One - Being pushed down a hill in a giant inflatable sphere. Whats not to like? This would also be a great way to learn about gravity!

A Stylophone - These are fantastic. They make electronic tunes when you touch the notes you want to play with the stylus. If you have never seen one, look them up! I used to be able to play the Super Mario theme-tune.

I highly recommend that you try to find some gadgets gift vouchers the next time you are shopping for your intelligent child. They helped me save money on the things that I would have otherwise ended up buying at full price.

Now I just have to wait and see what my son thinks of his gift! Fingers crossed.
