Gardens and Puppet Shows. The Jardin de Luxembourg is the widest park in Paris. The cool landscaping, the neatly spaced trees and sculptures are the interesting points of the park. The serene park is a perfect place to cool off after a hectic day of doing the rounds of Paris. During the summer, the scent of the ripening apple and pear trees perfumes the air.
The Theatre des Marionnettes or puppet theatre is located in the park. Shows and musical performances are free. Locals and tourists take in shows under the trees. Nearby are a cafe restaurant and a fenced-in playground for children.
Other must-see are the Fete de Ganesh held every August. This is colorful albeit noisy parade starts honors the Hindi god of wisdom and education. But don't forget to picnic under the famous Eiffel Tower. This is second too none of the many Parisian landmarks.
