Being Flexible In Home Based Business

Today I want to talk about the concept of being flexible in your approach to your business. You know in business and in life in general theres a saying that goes The only thing thats constant is change and one thing that will throw you completely off your game is to be too frazzled when taken aback when everythings changed.

Now depending on what type of business set up you have you may be of more or less exposure to change than other business models.

The time when you will be most exposed to change, you are plugging into a system or business that someone else has set up for you like maybe youre selling products in, recruiting in like a network marketing model or you are a commissioned salesperson for a company.

You would probably need to be the most flexible under those circumstances because things may change.

The company may change compensation plans, leadership may change, product lines may change, and you will have to learn to adapt to it, sometimes even have to have your whole team adapt to those changes.

Its not always bad things, sometimes change is for the better. Sometimes they are for the worse but they will happen no matter what business that youre in and you need to become very adept, that being able to first emotionally deal with the change and then be very objective about what your next step should be so that your business does not skip a beat because of the change.

Even when you own your own system there are other things that will often cause change in your business and sometimes having your own system you arent necessarily more protected by change. Youre just trading one type of change for another.

Whereas when youre plugging into a larger company you may have the changes that happen from company management that you were not involved in those decisions but you may be safe guarded from some of the more sweeping changes that may knock you out if youre on your own.

Things like economic downturn, maybe youre not getting a lot of traffic on a website over the internet from search engines and you lose a search engine ranking.

Ive had that before where I dominated the number one search word, keyword for three or four years and one day I just woke up and I wasnt even on the first, second or third page and I had maybe an 80% reduction in my website traffic literally overnight.

You may have a contractor or an employee that quits all of a sudden or you may have sometimes even good changes like an unexpected tsunami in sales that your system cant handle and you may need to go in and back some back end changes or hire some technical people to be able to prepare you and your business to be able to deal with that.

So, no matter what business you are in you will deal with change, so learn to be very adept at being able to deal with change. First of all, by being, as Ive said before, very emotionally even keel.

Secondly, being able to look at the situation objectively and be able to determine and ascertain what are the next steps that you should be following to make sure that you keep your business moving forward and not being stagnant.
