A rates discussion is never a rates discussion. It is about what you are worth as a consultant and advisor. And you have to demonstrate that worth. The rate is what the client will pay for you. Your worth is the value you will bring for the rate. Always show that your value vastly exceeds your rate, and the company is the better for having hired you in the first place.
