Guidelines On How To Start Day Care Business

Daycare is a new concept for this new fast paced era. If someone would have mentioned daycare a couple of decades back, he or she would have been met with raised eyebrows or a shrug of total bewilderment. One of the reasons maybe was that the notion of both the parents working to earn a living was not common; the mother was entrusted for taking care of children in absence of the father. Hence, a place where you can leave your child without having to worry about things such as feeding them, proper supervision, safety and primary education were not necessary.

But nowadays, with cost of living soaring sky high, a family has to opt for both the parents working to make both ends meet and thus signifying the need for a place where children too young to be fend for themselves can be left for the time till parents are on their respective jobs. Daycare comes as a blessing for such parents.

From business perspective daycare is a profitable source of supplementing income. To start your very own day care business several aspects have to be taken under consideration; firstly the state laws where the day care is to opened must be consulted. There are specific and stern laws dictated by each state such as provision of licensed teacher for the children, the ratio should be evenly balanced like 1 teacher for 12 to 15 children.

Since the daycare mainly deals with young children, it is a requirement by most states to have a licensed medical professional such as a doctor or a nurse to be present on the premises. As with any new business venture, it is advisable to start with a small scale setup and expand as you gain experience and learn the ropes.

Location of your day care would have drastic impact on the volume of business it fetches. The daycare should ideally be on route to workplace where parents can conveniently drop off their children. It should be set apart from the main street and heavy traffic. Bear in mind that with young children involved, one can never be too careful.

Furnishing the day care needs attention and it should be a priority to purchase furniture which is manufactured keeping children in mind. Since furniture used by children is more prone to wear and tear, it's recommended to go for new and quality stuff but if that is not in the budget, you can always opt for second hand furniture, just make sure that it is in good condition, durable and sturdy.

Lastly, you should devise a proper advertising and marketing strategy for your day care. Using medium such TV for commercials and billboards might be too expensive for a modest setup. Look for alternative solutions such as newspaper, direct mailers or even approaching social places yourself with pamphlets of your newly established business.
