Pickup From Couriers On The Holidays

There are now so many businesses all over the world that do business everywhere, not restricted by any of the lines that we humans have drawn on a map. Also, people in different countries, in different cultures, all over the world celebrate holidays on different days. Because of this, what is a holiday in one country may not be one in another. That is why so many international companies are concerned about finding a courier that will deliver on holidays. Business couriers are not the same as a medical courier, for example, which are always going to be on duty. Finding one that will deliver on a holiday can take some searching.

There are going to be different types of couriers that deliver on the holidays. Many regular courier services have some kind of an on call after hours or holiday service. This means that while the company certainly isn't running at full staff on a holiday, they will have the capability to call someone in to make a delivery for you if your need is urgent enough.

This is usually the sort of thing you should only if it is very important to your company to do so. That is because the cost is usually going to be more than you might at first anticipate. They will charge you a higher base rate for the holiday delivery, because they are going to have to pay their driver much more. There will also be a fee or surcharge for brining someone in from on -call.

On the other hand, there are couriers which bill themselves as a 24/7 courier service. These companies are open every hour of every day, and don't close for any of the major holidays. As such, they usually charge the same rates across the board for their service. Be sure to check that before you ship though, as some may charge a holiday fee, even if they don't charge a higher base price for delivering outside of normal business hours.

You will have to decide what the holiday shipping needs of your company are likely to be when choosing between these two types of companies. If you ship on holidays frequently, the 24/7 courier is likely the one for you. However, if you only have a holiday shipment come up rarely, you may find the average rate of the other courier lower. That savings could cover the holiday fee when it comes up only rarely.
