Even promoting friendly competition within the office can be a fun way to create company spirit while subtly pushing them to increase their production. It works for the business and often your employees will be so caught up in the competition they won't even realize they are serving themselves as well as the company. The competition doesn't need to be anything serious, even silly things will make it more lively.
A small investment to promote morale at work will show off in the long run. It puts a smile on the faces of your employees and gives them a sense of doing something for someone that they care about. A business where low morale permeates the place is a business that is doomed to failure. With very little money you can do a lot to change how most everyone at work feels for the better.
