Africa Unveiled

Africa has a rich heritage of customs and traditions. It has a variety of traditions related to religion, marriage, myths, dance, language, arts and crafts and lifestyles.

Africa belongs to tribes in social groups from a very long time. It has renowned arts and crafts like brass and leather art works, sculptors, paintings, pottery and wood carvings. African people wear extra ordinary dress. Men wear loose garments like robes and trousers with skull caps on their head. Women wear dark coloured cloaks and shawls having jewellery of beautiful designed shells and skulls.

African folklore and folk tales depict the picture of their social culture including music and choral singing. It follows the rhythm of early African tribes. African mask finds its place in art and craft from old Palaeolithic age. These masks are made up of leather, metals, fabrics and woods. African people especially dancer wears mask during any occasion like festivals of crop harvesting and in the battle field.

Labola is an age old marriage tradition of African people. In this system the groom possess the right to marry on the payment of a price to the bride. In this system the wife can not divorce till her family pays the labola price. This culture is very unusual that is hardly accepted by new generation.

African religion is spread through out the regions of Africa. The religious belief is based on God, the divinities, spirits and fore fathers. The worship of God and divinities is showered by praying, sacrificing, offering and through music and dance. Most of the people of Africa have strong spiritual belief. They do not worship in temples and shrines. They worship trees, forests, rivers and mountains violating the materialistic worship. The women hold important place in different myths of Africa. In different myths the women play the role of a mother to give the birth of the first child. Women act as priests in the prayer of God. African people use supplements similar to tru hoodia complex to support their health.

An African tradition is famous and has a great impact through out the world. There are endless cures for as many diseases that are all based on natural elements and they have been borrowed from ancient African traditions.
