subject: How To Throw A Kids Party [print this page]

No parent wants to let their child down, and this is the case in throwing a childrens party too. There are so many things to consider like who to invite, where to hold the party, what food to buy, what theme to have and what decorations to have. The aim of this article is to guide you through the process.

So firstly we need to answer this important question - why have a childrens party? Becoming a year older is a major mile stone in your childs life and they have probably been gearing up to it for the whole year. Remember what they say when someone asks their age, they rarely reply with an exact figure but add and a quarter or and a half. By having a kids party you are marking the achievement of reaching that mile stone, as well as providing an opportunity for fun.

So youve decided that you want to throw a kids party, the next step in the process is deciding where to hold it. One option is to have it at home which has the advantage of being cheaper than hiring a venue. Your child is also likely to feel more relaxed in their familiar home environment. However you need to consider whether your home is big enough to accommodate the guests you want to invite to the kids party or if its a safe and suitable environment for multiple children.

If the weather is nice, you may choose to hold your party in an outdoor space such as your garden, a local park or at the beach.

There are many venues that now offer childrens parties including fast food restaurants, childrens entertainment centres and family friendly pubs or restaurants. These venues usually have all the facilities required for holding a kids party but only offer limited choice, if any, of childrens party decorations.

Depending of where you decide to hold the party will have an impact on the number of guests you can invite. Remember that kids parties for younger children will often involve their parents being on hand too, where as older childrens parties will usually involve the children just being dropped off. Its best to invite just your childs close friends and family as this will help your child feel relaxed and comfortable without getting too overwhelmed.

The food you choose will also depend on the location of the kids party. Most venues will have a set childrens party menu to choose from. If you are having the party at home or doing the catering yourself, you need to bear in mind the age range of the guests and any special dietary requirements they may have.

That brings us on to the theme of the party. Children are often more excited about themed parties. The theme can be achieved by having fancy dress, or choosing themed party decorations. There are many different themed party supplies available. You can choose from generic themes such as a pirate party, princess party or jungle party. Or you can choose a television or film related theme such as Toy Story, Spiderman, Doctor Who, Ben 10, Bob the Builder or In The Night Garden. The theme will depend on your childs preference and the age range of the guests.

Once youve chosen a theme, you can really big it up with themed party invitations, themed tableware including plates, cups and napkins in your chosen design. Plus you can also get matching balloons and banners to complete the look. To add extra fun, you can buy a themed piata. Remember to get party bags to send a piece of cake home in. Plus as a lovely finishing touch, why not get your child to write matching themed thank you cards after the event.
