Leisure Valley: A Garden Haven

Located in Chandigarh, Leisure Valley is a beautiful garden that holds so much appeal to its residents and guests. Starting from Rajendra Park, the recreational venue begins here as they are also regarded as Section 1. People of all age groups marvel at the beautiful and scenic views. They go deeper into its realms, to simply stroll around or do yoga. Visitors find the Bougainvillea garden very fabulous with many pink flowers to please everyone. Bougainvillea Shows are annually done in the said venue, usually located at Section 3.

Sector 1
Leisure Valley: A Garden Haven


Gardens are divided and classified into different sections. Sector 1is called Smriti Upavan. People who come here are given some space to plant a tree, for the memory of their loved ones who passed away. The place was actually inaugurated not too long ago, particularly last November 11, 1998. A banyan tree is planted here in memory of the late Prime Minister Pandit Jawahar Lal Nehru. This is located across Sukhna Lake and the Rock Garden.

Sector 16

Rose Garden, situated in Sector 16, is given this title for being the biggest rose garden seen in Asia. It is named after the former President Dr. Zakir Hussain of India, when it was establish in the year 1967 under the supervision of the late chief commissioner Dr. M.S. Randhawa.

It is one of the most visited sections as many people are naturally endeared to roses. The place has an area of 87 acres with more than a total of 17,000 plants and with 1,600 different kinds of roses. They hold festivals annually. This event is also listed on the February Calendar for the Festival of Gardens.

Sector 23

Sector 23 is a place for children. This is with the Children Traffic Park which literally paves the road to children who are still learning to ride their little bikes. The roads here are designed and specifically constructed for the said reason. It even has traffic lights in miniature form that always delight the kids. Parents can enjoy this place and they are assured that their children will not be in harm's way while learning to ride a bike.

Sector 33

A unique and pleasant garden is what they call the Terraced Garden of Sector 33. It is a little valley that has been developed. The main attraction visitors should not miss here is the illuminated musical fountain. The Chrysanthemum Show is held here annually. The garden extends to more than 10 acres. It was opened to the public in the year 1979.
