After the praying, people seem to be released and have more confidence to life. The day, in the cave area, the temple will draw huge number of people, which make the activity a spectacular event.

Sand Skidding Festival

June 1 every year, Dunhuang Tourism Bureau, Cultural Bureau and Sports Commission and other units jointly organize a large-scale sand-skidding festival.

When hundreds of sand-skidding enthusiasts get together to skid down from the top slid of the Mingsha Mountain, there is a huge noise in a constant, crashing hum. The hum will be heard from 5 kilometers away. This grand sight was once published by CCTV, and aroused a stunning influence.

Dunhuang, a hot tourist destination, is famous for its grottoes and situated close to the common boundary of Gansu, Xinjiang and Qinghai provinces, and was the hub of middle and eastern silk road routes in ancient China.
