Now You Can Buy Linen Online

Internet access has grown significantly in South Africa over the past few years. In turn, South African consumers are increasingly taking the opportunity to shop online.

We are living in exciting times in our country, says Mark Grunebaum, MD of linenlogon.co.za. It has become more affordable for South Africans to access to Internet with more exciting changes in the years to come. Furthermore, there are more purchasing options available, since most of us do not yet have credit cards.

According to World Wide Worx, the number of South Africans with access to the Internet had grown 15%, to 5.3 million users, in 2009, and it expects a similar growth rate for 2010. Almost 11 million South Africans are expected to be online by 2015.

This trend will influence the tendency for consumers to shop online. More education on online shopping will also persuade consumers when they learn that items are, in fact, cheaper online. Retailers do not have to pay rental and other expenses related to having a store when selling their goods online!

We were very excited to jump on this bandwagon, continues Grunebaum. When Linenlogon went live in 2008, we saw an opportunity in the market for South African consumers to purchase good quality, visually appealing linen online. Linen that is, at the moment, quite difficult to find in most chain stores. The average business executive has little time to do a grocery shop let alone shop around for comfortable bedding that will last a long time.

According to a Master Card survey conducted in 2009, South Africans feel that making purchases online is more convenient, user-friendly and easier than walking into a shop or ordering from a catalogue or over the phone. It also showed that 77% of people who have access to the Internet, shop online.

Anthony West, Master Card Senior VP and GM of Africa continues, The latest Master Card survey revealed that 83% of South African online shoppers are satisfied with their overall online shopping experience and that 72% of active online shoppers intend to make an online purchase in the next six months. One of the downsides however is that 55% of respondents said they prefer to shop in-store in order to look at the physical product.

We have most certainly covered our bases in that regard, says Grunebaum. Firstly, shoppers can request a sample of the fabric straight from Linenlogon home page. We also have a showroom in Johannesburg with flexible times for viewing pleasure. We also have an email and contact telephone number to assist with any queries and lastly, we have a 14 day money back guarantee.

With more and more retailers online, vendors need to ensure they have a competitive edge. Mark adds that besides the fast, convenient service that Linenlogon offers to their clients, they also have an extremely good quality product. They introduced the bed in a bag concept where consumers can buy up to 12 items of linen, of the same style, in one package, and all at a good price.

Linenlogon also offers quilting that does not require duvet inners during those hot summer months, the latest embroidery design and is proudly South African. To top it off, Linenlogon range of fabrics include Percale, a luxurious fabric which has become very popular in South Africa over the last few years, Jacquard, Polycotton and Taffeta.

With items like linen going online, it is clear to see the expansion of the online shopping arena in South Africa that is only going to grow leaps and bounds over the years.
