The Art Of Boat Making

In Africa Boat making is an art that has been around Africa for years. Though these boats are powered by motors, they perform just as well. They are made of special wood which is then carved at the center leaving a hollow space for passengers. These boats can carry up to thirty people or more. The special wood they are made of doesn't absorb water, floats easily, and it's easily swayed by wind and can move at great speeds. Boat making is a common practice by communities living around lakes or oceans. These boats come in handy during transportation, movement or fishing. They are either rowed by puddles where people sit in opposite directions and puddle the water backwards hence facilitating easier movement. Bigger boats require masts where big cloths are tied to facilitate movement through wind. They handle well when there are moderate currents which won't topple them over. They are good for crossing large rivers or lakes especially in areas that are very deep and one cannot swim across. Boat making has now been modernized with the introduction of the ones that are motorized. However, Africans have a high regard for the un-motorized ones because they help one to exercise and participate. You can enjoy boat rides in all lakes and big rivers in Africa. Some of the best places you can get this are L. Victoria in the East Africa, Lamu town on the Coastal Place of Kenya or in the great River Nile shores. This river is very wide and you need a boat to cross.
