Auto Maintenance Tips During The Wintertime

Car safety is important any time of the year. Road conditions during the winter months, however, mean that you need to make correct choices with car maintenance to avoid accidents and breakdowns. Keep your car in great shape during the cold months by following these auto maintenance guidelines.

Keeping a log of all the maintenance that is done on your car will keep you informed on when your next check should be. It is also a good way to let your Utah auto repair technicians know which tires need rotating and replacing, etc. Regular maintenance jobs need to be done during all the seasons.

Ice, snow, and road salt wreak havoc on cars. Driving in the winter is more dangerous than driving during the dry months. Below are a few winter tips for things you need to check up on with your car.

1. Inspect your tires - Be sure that you tire depth is at least 2/32" with treads. Anything less needs to be replaced fairly soon. Winter is not the time to slack on your tires.

2. Replace windshield wipers - You can find windshield wipers at a Utah auto repair store. Be sure that they are working correctly. If they are not, get them fixed so you can keep your windshield clean for a safe ride.

3. Check the windshield wiper washer fluid - Having windshield washer fluid can keep your windshield free from dirty snow that sloshes up on your car during drives. While you are checking on your windshield wipers, be sure that there is plenty of windshield washer fluid as well. You can find washer fluid at any Utah auto repair stores or most supermarkets.

4. Be sure you have enough antifreeze - Check on the antifreeze of your car. The antifreeze of your car is imperative to your car's security during the Winter. Many Utah auto repair service stations will check your antifreeze levels for free.

Check with your local Utah auto repair shops to see if they carry these materials. If you have a basic knowledge of car repair, these maintenance checks can be done by yourself. Road conditions are dangerous enough during the Winter months. Don't risk your car's safety by not keeping up with the maintenance work of your car.
