subject: The One Thing You Need To Remember When Selling Online [print this page]

People who buy things online never get to actually see, or touch the things they are going to be purchasing. This may seem obvious, but many people tend to look over this one essential fact, and focus more on perfecting the welcome page (home page) of their site, and forget that the most important pages are the product pages!

If you are serious about making drop shipping a successful business, then you will have gotten pictures and descriptions of hot selling products for your web store.

In some cases, you will have hundreds, and maybe even thousands of products, and you may even consider narrowing it down to make things easier. But DON'T do that!

A very important aspect you will need to learn about the business is how to add batches of products. This will allow you to add as many products to your store as you want at one time. However, on the flip side, if you have thousands upon thousands of products, you may not be able to devote the proper amount of time to each page which it needs.

The descriptions and pictures of the products your drop shipper will supply you with are not the be all end all. They are a starting point from which you should improve upon to make them unique to your store.

You will need to learn how to update the product information without completely writing over your painstakingly changed descriptions. This is generally not a hard task, you just need to get the hang of your web store's back end.

The product descriptions are incredibly important as you have one unique aspect to exploit, which physical stores do not. You can list the features and benefits of the item!

Rather than just putting it on display with a picture, kick it up a notch, explain what it does, and how it will help your potential buyer! This also helps overcome objectives (which is essential in any sales process) that a potential buyer may have, before they can think of them!

This is why a lot of people now tend to do the majority of their shopping in web stores. It's a lot easier to get the information they want on the product before actually buying it. A lot of times in physical stores the staff don't know, or are too busy to answer any questions they may have about the product.

Search Engines love unique content, especially if it's original content. The text on your product pages will become the basis for getting your entire store indexed in the search engines. If you have the same product description as everyone else, then you will just blend into the crowd.

You need to keep in mind that many of your potential clients will not even see your homepage, they will immediately get linked to a product page.

So you need to be sure that the descriptions are up to date, pricing is correct, and that the page displays properly.. This is not to say a good homepage is not needed, just that you need to focus on your product pages first.
