subject: Is A Thailand Dental Holiday Safe [print this page]

I would whole heartedly have to say, yes. I have traveled to Thailand for many times and even lived there for over a year living in each major city for 3 months at a time. However, if you have never been there or rarely travel outside your country, safety will probably be one of your biggest concerns.

Disease:

I have been asked many times if I needed to get any vaccine shots before traveling to Thailand. The answer is no. It is not required for any citizen of a western country to get this done before traveling there.

Personal Risk:

Many questions arise when personal safety is concerned and rightfully so. You want to be positive that nothing bad will happen to you when traveling. Unfortunately, there are no guarantees that your life will be a long, safe, and happy one. However Thailand is not like the latest Rambo movie. Here are a few tips:

-Thailand's food is safe and very tasty (Although quite spicy, so be sure to mention that you want less spice).

-Be sure to drink bottled water.

-I have felt safer walking in Bangkok than I would in any major city in America.

-The airplanes are held to the same standard as any western country.

Procedural Risks:

If you are traveling all the way to Thailand to get some dental work done, you want to make sure the work done is quality. As with most things in life, do some research for yourself. Look for accreditation, search for reviews and attain references from people who have been to the clinic you are considering. With the internet, it is very easy to attain information on any business. If you are having trouble finding information for one clinic, consider that a red flag and move on to another.

Personally, I prefer "how to" books. There are some great ebooks available about Thailand Dental Holidays which include very detailed steps.

I have traveled to Thailand alone, with my wife, and even with my children. In any of these times, I've never felt threatened or at risk in anyway. They call it the land of smiles for a reason!
