subject: Can Chiropractic Treatment Help Me? [print this page]

Studies have made it clear that chiropractic care for the treatment of headaches, neck pain, shoulder pain, leg, feet and arm disorders - as well as back pain - is very effective. The goal of a Chiropractor is to restore the affected system to a normal state. There are many techniques used to accomplish this. Everything a Chiropractor practices is completely natural.

People who suffer from pain often use drugs - painkillers. There is a cause of this pain which needs to be attended-to. Chiropractic treats these issues, effectively ending the pain rather than masking it with expensive and potentially damaging drugs. A pain anywhere can be caused by a skeletal disorder, muscle or nerve trauma or injury. Spasms, difficulty moving or standing and inflammation may be the result of such injuries, trauma or disorders.

Although it may be thought of as an Eastern mystical treatment by some, Chiropractic was actually founded in Iowa in the late 1800s by Daniel David Palmer. The early years of treatment - and even into the last few decades - care given by Chiropractors often met with distaste and outright condemnation by other medical professionals. Because of the lack of scientific evidence, many of these professionals questioned the effectiveness of this practice. It has now been proven - time and again - that this form of treatment is valid. It is often the only thing that works for many who suffer what only drugs might relieve. Chiropractors are now recognized as doctors in many parts of the world.

Now that we know Chiropractors and Dentists and Medical Doctors are all recognized doctors, there should be no concern with attending a chiropractic clinic. Most pain can be cured by chiropractors - but which are the more common treatments? You must understand that Chiropractors actually cure the pain. They don't "relieve" or "calm" the pain; they find the cause, and fix it.

Low back pain and headaches are common problems Chiropractors treat. Whiplash - from a car crash - will often cause such pains. It is not the only cause of back or neck pain and headaches, but whiplash is a sudden thing that can disable a victim for years. These injuries require immediate attention. A chiropractor is an excellent choice.

A patient with lower back pain may also experience numbness or aching in the legs. Waking-up stiff, hip pain and the inability to move freely are other ailments associated with back pain. Joint inflammation, tense muscles, herniated discs and sciatica can cause back pain. It may be that a sufferer of such pain can't remember any type of severe accident or fall. It is not always necessary to experience extreme trauma to cause back and associated pains.

Those who suffer from migraines don't need to be told of their awful pain. It is virtually impossible to function in any normal fashion while experiencing such a headache. Sleeping or simply lying-still may be impossible. They are met with extreme throbbing - that feels like your head may explode. Some migraine sufferers are so affected that they vomit solely from the pain.

Constant pressure within the head are known as tension headaches. They may not be as intense as migraines, but they can still end your ability to work or play. Some type of trauma has caused your tension or migraine headache. It may be a forgotten event, but at some time a nerve, muscle, joint or neck injury has occurred and now this has resulted in a form of severe headache.

Whether it be neck pain, back pain, headaches, foot, arm or shoulder pain - it is wise to consider alternative or complementary treatment. If drugs are a major part of your pain-ridden life, or if physical rehab, or massage therapy aren't working; you should seek-out a specialist. Chiropractic treatment is a highly recommended choice for many victims of pain.
