Mesothelioma is an asbestos related disease. Those who have at one time or the other worked in an asbestos company are prone to this deadly disease. This could include working with asbestos or by home renovation using asbestos cement products or even by washing the clothes of a family member who worked with asbestos.

The resulting disease is a rare form of cancer where malignant (cancerous) cells are found in the mesothelium, a protective sac that covers most of the body's internal organs.Even those who are close to them them are not entirely safe.Mesothlioma is a cancer that does not immediately start to affect its victims. It take several years before the symptoms would begin to show.

There are about three known treatment for Mesothelioma cancer with other treatment possibilities likely to surface in the future. As presently,, the U.S. National Cancer Institute is sponsoring clinical trials that are designed to find new treatments and better ways to use current treatments in the treatment of Mesothelioma.

The type of treatment that would be given to a patient solely depends on the location of the cancer, the stage of the disease, the patient's age and general health status.

Men are more prone to mesothelioma than women and the risk increases as the victim gets older. Mesothelioma can appear in either men or women at any age. Although reported incidence rates have increased in the past 20 years, mesothelioma is still a relatively rare cancer.About 2,000 new cases of mesothelioma are diagnosed in the United States each year.

1 surgery. 2 Anticancer drugs. 3 radiation therapy.

SURGERY: By the removing of part of the lining of the chest or abdomen and some of the tissue around it. For cancer of the pleura, a lung may be removed in an operation called a pneumonectomy. Sometimes part of the diaphragm, the muscle below the lungs that helps with breathing, is also removed. This is the most common treatment method of this disease.

ANTICANCER DRUGS: This method is also called Chemotherapy.

This is the process of using drugs to kill the cancer cell in the body.Injection can also be used in the this process to transport the drugs to through the patients vein.

RADIATION THERAPY, also called radiotherapy. This involves the use of high-energy rays to kill cancer cells and shrink tumors. Radiation therapy affects the cancer cells only in the treated area. The radiation may come from a machine or from putting materials that produce radiation through thin plastic tubes into the area where the cancer cells are found .

In Conclusion, anyone who has worked at an asbestos company,or has lived close to where such is been manufactured or perhaps has a relation that has worked in such company before should go see a mesothelioma doctor for a test.
