Choosing The Right Removals Firm For The Job

One of the most important things to get right when you are planning on moving from the United Kingdom to a new country, is choosing the international removals firm that will organise the shipping of your belongings. The job is a complex operation, but with the right team on board everything is made so much simpler, allowing you to concentrate on other areas of the move.

Many people will be unlikely to have used a shipping company before, and so it can be a tricky business deciding which firm to choose in the first place. There are however some golden rules and pointers that you should always look for. The first is how much experience the company has of handling removals - have they only been in the industry a short while, or do they have decades of experience to draw on? The longer a firm has been in business, the more likely it is they will have a smooth operation and have strong contacts with agents in other countries which can be incredibly useful.

You should check as well whether they are members of any trade organisations such as the Federation of International Furniture Removers. This will give you an idea of the standard of service you can expect to receive, and comfort of knowing that the company conforms to at least the minimum industry-wide standards. If in doubt about the authenticity of claims, then simply ask for the company to show you their current certificate.

The packing of your goods is one of the most sensitive areas and so make sure you use a company that employs their own export packing teams and does not sub-contract the work to another company. A firm that handles this area of the move themselves will have direct control over the quality of the work. You need to be sure that your goods have been packed safely and securely so they will reach their destination in one piece

These are a few of the things to look out for and if you stick to these rules as a minimum, then you should end up with a company that can be trusted to handle your goods. Go onto the internet and research international shipping firms to see who is out there before committing yourself. Take your time and plan well in advance to make sure that you are not rushing and settling for second best at the last minute.
