Im not expecting you to find my part 1 useful, but it may have have made you laugh. Ok thats wishful thinking!
My second instalment is a success story.
My girlfriend got me into trying to make money buying and selling dvds on PlayTrade. She used to go to the market and buy dvds that other people considered rubbish and sell them on at a profit because other people considered them more valuable.
One mans trash is the next mans treasure.
So we went into town and I bought a handful of dvds from second hand shops (I want to say now, its not that I was passing them off as new, it was that we found really cheap ones in charity shops and used dvd retailers that happened to be more expensive online, even to sell on in used condition, we found some rare dvds for example) thinking that they would definitely sell rather than whether they would make a profit.
At this stage I didnt think to take into account that I would have to add postage and packaging costs to make a profit! So it turned out only one of the half a dozen or so I bought actually would sell at a sufficient enough profit to warrant putting it on PlayTrade.
One day it occurred to me that I could actually use ebay to by cheap second hand dvds to sell on as well, so off I went on a search.
The best ones were where people had bought region 1 dvds (being in the UK) by accident, unknowingly and then were selling them cheap because they thought they wouldnt work with other peoples dvd players who live in the UK.
My biggest profit actually came from a region 1 Prison Break dvd that I bought for about 7 and sold for about 25.
I still sell on PlayTrade and my latest way to find cheap things to sell is a wholesale website where I bought 10 copies of a cd to test the water. Im down to 9 already and if I sell them all at the price they are currently at, Ill make about 35 profit. Which doesnt sound amazing but if I were to do it several times, they mount up.
Until the next article, I hope your efforts to try to make money online pan out for you.
