Optical Time-domain Reflectometer Provides Result Comparisons

Toronto, Canada - GAO Tek Inc. (www.GAOTek.com) recommends this portable Optical Time-Domain Reflectometer (OTDR) which has been widely used in loss characteristics analysis and fault point location in the manufacture, installation and maintenance of fiber optic networks. It provides up to six pairs of simultaneous test result comparisons, or any single result is observable. The OTDR is compatible with CATV, ISP and telecommunications fiber networks. Featuring a compact size and easy operation, it is ideal for field testing.

The multi-functional optical time-domain reflectometer, model 2000, shows the length, attenuation coefficient, connection point, fault points and loss distribution curves of the fiber under test, as well as, loss between two points, splice loss and return loss. It provides two screen markers that can be used to zoom in and out on curve details. This OTDR automatically locates and creates a list of fault points. The test results and event analysis lists can be printed through the print-screen-function, which enables the user to upload data to a PC. This handheld OTDR has a rapid response time which allows it to finish measurements on a 50km fiber within 30s with a high S/N ratio. A large battery capacity enables a continuous operation of more than 12 hours.
