Trout Fishing Lodge - Must Have Amenities For A Successful Fishing Trip

Staying at a trout fishing lodge is a choice that many make when they travel out-of-town on a fishing trip. There are many fishing lodges to choice from, yet how does a person go about find a good lodge? What sets one lodge apart from another lodge. Is there a reason why someone would pick a lodge closer to the water versus a lodge which costs less and a few miles away? All the answers to these questions and more are within this article.

Lodge Location

First the location of the lodge is important. A lodge should close to the water where the fisherman will be spending most of his/her day. After a long day on the lake or river, it is better to spend five or ten minutes walking back to a lodge that is close by, than driving thirty minutes to a lodge a few miles away. A short distance from lodge to water is even more important when a fisherman has to get up at the crack of dawn to claim a good fishing spot.

Lodge Services

The second thing to look for is the kind of services the lodge offers. Does it offer a hot meal? Is it a "Bed and Breakfast"? Are the rooms spacious enough to hold a fisherman's gear? Do they offer an area to clean the trout and prepare for the next day? A good lodge will have all these amenities available and more. These are the many areas that will separate a good lodge to one that is mediocre.

On Location Sporting Goods Store

The final criteria centers around the supplies. Does the lodge have its own sporting goods store? A fisherman will not need to drive into town to buy more bait, new lures, spinners, reels or any other piece of gear forgotten or broken on a trip when a fishing lodge has their own shop. A good lodge will carry everything a fisherman could need to fish the surrounding waters. Not all will have a shop within the lodge, but it does come in very handy when something on the trip goes wrong. Mishaps happen all the time and it is nice to have this service at hand.

These are a few tips to keep in mind when planning a fishing trip. The more amenities available, the more comfortable and enjoyable the trip will be. Some like to rough it and that is OK as well. Yet there are those that want some comfort, as well as, a good day on the water.
