Romantic Weekend Getaways

Tahiti

Known for several beautiful destinations including the island of Bora Bora (Pora Pora to native inhabitants), 118 islands make up French Polynesia, the largest island being Tahiti itself. The islands are located between California and Australia and are in the Central Pacific Time Zone. French and Polynesian are the official languages, although English is spoken. Visitors can stay in lovely thatched roof bungalows above the ocean itself, looking through glass floors at the aquatic life below. Snorkeling, diving, jet skiing, shark feeding and spa treatments are also popular.

Jamaica

People from South America, Africa and Europe and Asia make up Jamaica's rich and storied heritage. First settled by the Tainos, believed to be from South America, European Settlers, African slaves, and Chinese and Middle Eastern immigrants all came to the island. After several slavery revolts by the Africans, European bans on slavery, and immigration, the island became a sovereign nation in 1962. Today thousands of visitors flock to learn more about Jamaica's past as well as enjoy horseback riding, golf, a day at the beach and Jamaica's famed nightlife.

Hawaii

The Aloha State first became part of the United States in 1959. Encompassing more than fifteen islands, tourists are permitted to visit the six largest ones: Kauai, Oahu, Maui, Molokai, Lanai, and the Big Island of Hawaii. The Polynesians, Hawaii's first settlers, came to Hawaii over 1,500 years ago. Hundreds of years later settlers from Tahiti arrived. Visitors to Hawaii can view the Big Island's active volcanoes, visit the Pearl Harbor Memorial in Oahu, surf, canoe, snorkel, and relax on any one of Hawaii's gorgeous sandy beaches.

So when you are searching for your romantic weekend getaways with your loved one, remember the beautiful islands of Tahiti, Jamaica and Hawaii.
