Chances are your shirts are of white color or blue tones and red hued ties look good with these colors.
Don't Go with Too Thick Stripes

White striped shirts are also safe to combine with striped tie but keep in mind that the stripes on the white shirts need to be thin as well.

Do Go Monochrome if You are Not Sure
