Twists on Classic Christmas Gifts

Classic Christmas gifts, like cashmere sweaters, chocolates, wine, and jewellery are always popular and in good taste, yet they may not be appropriate for some people on your gift list. Everyone knows how disappointed it is to get gifts you don't really like, or can't use. So if you want to put a twist on a classic gift, try thinking outside the box.

Cashmere clothing is usually a good choice because during the winter everyone loves nice, warm clothes, especially if you live in a climate with long, cold winters. But perhaps cashmere sweaters are a little bit one-size-fits-all as far as Christmas gifts are concerned? If you want to purchase cashmere clothing, consider some slightly less average items like a cashmere hat and gloves set, a cashmere blanket, or even a cashmere poncho.

Unusual chocolates are fairly easy to find. Try going to independent candy and chocolate shops, or ordering online. You can even try your hand at making your own. Find recipes online, and make or purchase special gift boxes for them.

For a new and different wines, try some wine from another country, or an older or sweeter wine than you would normally buy. Do some research to find out what wines are considered unusual, yet still palatable and classy.

Unique jewellery is probably one of the best Christmas gifts you can buy. Handmade and vintage necklaces, rings, and earrings are wonderful choices, and you can easily purchase these in boutiques and antique shops, as well as online at Web sites like Etsy, Art Fire, and Folksy.

When purchasing Christmas gifts, try to think about the personality of the person you are buying for. Choosing a unique gift, or a classic gift with a twist, is a lot easier if you know what will be appreciated most by the recipient.
