With the various resorts spread among these popular destinations we tend to make a typical knee jerk reaction to return to what we know and have experienced already, but many of us are pointlessly ignoring the calls from the Atlantic Ocean which are just waiting for us to go and explore the tropical delights that awaits in the Canary Islands. More specifically along the south coast of Tenerife, a little place called Playa de Las Americas.
Playa de Las Americas has achieved a strong reputation with holidaymakers who enjoys nights that are as lively as the days. For those who love resorts where the entertainment is none stop day and night then Playa de Las Americas is the place for you, with added bonus of picturesque views from pretty much anywhere you're staying. In places like San Antonio Bay, Magaluf, Ayia Napa and Zante, you can expect find some tourist-built resorts where there has been more care put into the look of the buildings than into the natural beauty of the exotic location, this is not the case on Tenerife's south coast. Most places of volcanic origins probably paint a picture in people's mind of a baron and dry environment, but the Canary Islands has incredibly beauty, something which you will realise instantly as your flight is on its approach. The lush green flora is present along the streets and in the distance as forests climb up the side of Mount Teide. Of course it's not all about the sumptuous surroundings, for most it's the lively pubs, bars and clubs which have sky rocketed the reputation of Playa de Las America to new heights of popularity and ever since the coastal resort has been steadily stealing Mediterranean stalwarts, including me.
The close location of other resorts close to Playa de Las Americas are much more accessible compared to the Mediterranean where places are miles apart. This makes exploration much easier and most places can be reached on foot. Day's are packed to the brim with activities you can only experience in similar tropical locations, such as dolphins and humpback whales passing by in their natural habitat. There is surely no other place for you to return to or experience for the first time than Playa de Las Americas.
