Measured as the most sacred of the four significant places of pilgrimage of Hindus, Shri Badrinath ji is positioned in the Garhwal district where the union of the Rishi Ganga and Alaknanda rivers takes place and at an elevation of 3110 M over the sea level. This particular place has been respected by saints and sagacious people and has been the dwelling of yogies, and great hermits over the period.

Shri Badrinath is protected by the double mountain ranges of Nar and Narayan range close to the very tall Neelkanth Peak. The additional warm water tanks are "Narad Kund" & "Surya Kund" in which devotees take the sacred wash. Badrinath rests primary in the pilgrimage agenda as the people here have the highest amount of faith and dedication towards God.

At the rear part of Badrinath temple, a gorge opens to Nilkanth peak, which symbolizes all the spirituality of this blessed land. The pujaris of Shri Badri Nath shrine are identified as the Rawal, who are normally the Namboodri Brahmin of Kerala.

Kedarnath

Kedarnath, the renowned sacred place of Lord Shiva is to be found at an altitude of 3583 m over sea-level on a muddy plain, on the incline of Himalyas. Kedarnath is the destination where Lord Shiva Lingam has been put in the fine-looking temple where the everlasting snow clad is there on the Himalayas and downward to the flower-covered Mandakini Valley.

The very old shrine of Kedamath was built by the Pandavas. In the external region of temple, the figures of Godess Parvati, Pandva, Godess Lakshmi etc are present. Hanskund is placed near the Kedarnth temple where Shradha-Tarpan performed puja for Moksha of Pitra . Amritkund is located at the back the Kedarnath temple and Retas kund is placed at some distance from the temple. The lake of cold water (ice) is to be found very close to the temple which is the source of river Mandakini. Uddandkund is positioned at a few distances from the temple which has a great significance in the history.
