subject: Ideal Xmas Gifts For Parents [print this page]

Christmas is supposed to be a fun, relaxing time to spend with the family. But for a lot of people it is anything but this, especially the run up to it. As well as getting all the food organized and the decorations hung there is the hundreds of cards to write and post. But the thing most people struggle with is choosing the perfect Xmas gifts.

The problem with shopping at this time of year is the crowds. Every single person is out looking for gifts just as you are. If you are not quick enough in choosing your presents, you are often left with nothing to pick from at all. Leaving you with the only option left of gifts from a gas station. A cliche but it does actually happen.

This year do it differently. Get some ideas early on, before going any where near a store. Then you can be in and out in minutes. But there in lies the biggest problem, and that is getting the ideas in the first place. But don't fret, there are some ideas that never fail to please.

First of all, lets get some ideas for your mother. It may be generalizing a little bit, but all women love jewellery. This is not much of a guide as there is so much to choose from. But, as a general rule, try to pick something uncomplicated that you think lot's of people would like. And the more expensive it is, the more likely they are to like it. You can always ask someone in the store who is about the same age, what kind of style they would go for.

Next up is the father. Men are simple creatures and easily pleased. Aftershave is always a safe bet. Maybe he is into sports. If so try getting tickets to a big game or some signed memorabilia. Perhaps he's a smoker, then an engraved cigarette lighter would be a great idea. Or if it's cigars he likes, then a box of rare ones would go down well. A lot of men like a little drink now and again, so find out if he likes wine, whiskey or whatever and get an expensive, rare bottle, maybe with some gift tumblers or glasses.

A solution to cut out any shopping is to treat them both to a little holiday. It is a little expensive but if you can afford it, it is sure to be a great surprise.

After reading this hopefully you will be able to come up with something. And once you do, then you can get back to enjoying yourself, which is what the holidays are for after all.
