Charter a Boat on the Sea Paradise Island of Malta

One of the best ways of making the most of Malta's pristine sea is by spending the entire day lazing about on a boat. Now if you happen to be fortunate enough to own a personal luxury yacht, good for you. However if you count yourself among the demographic of people that does not, you're going to have to charter a boat.

Doing this in Malta can make for a truly fun experience that may well end up being one of the highlights of your stay. Usually when you hire a boat, you will need to be a party of at least ten or so making it very much a social event. If you are holidaying with friends or family, this would be the opportunity for you all to bond over a great day together. If on the other hand you're going solo, you might be obliged to recruit some new friends. Unless you are feeling very rich.

A chartered boat will take you on a tour that will typically last for the best part of a day. The boat's captain will pick you up from a pre-determined venue and take you through various beauty spots, usually focusing around the Island of Comino. The boat will stop at popular inlets and bays such as the Blue Lagoon where anyone aboard will have the opportunity to jump into the sea if they feel inspired to do so. The clearly visible sight of the boat's shadow crawling along the seabed below will make it seem like you're floating in air rather than on the sea.

At some point in the day, the boat will probably land at Comino and the captain will bring out a barbecue to serve lunch. Although this may vary according to your particular agreement with the boat's owner, in many cases, the food will be included in the price. You will need to take your own drinks however, and these will be kept in a cooler on the boat.

Of course for the more affluent amongst us you could charter the boat and get really adventurous, taking it out into the Mediterranean and staying on board. Pricey but magnificent if you fancy a tranquil and relaxing holiday.

Cruise the Island by Boat

Islands anywhere make wonderful holidays. It is as much fun to go island-hopping as it is to be able to go round them on a boat and to absorb the different views that come up in quick succession.

Round-Malta and Round-Gozo cruises give you the opportunity to experience some of the Mediterranean's most stunning sights as you sail past the imposing bastions of Valletta and Grand Harbour, the history-laden Three Cities, and the chic, commercial centres of Sliema and St Julian's.

These full-day cruises also take you along the scenic Maltese and Gozitan coastlines viewing fishing villages, salt pans and the impressive Dingli cliffs, Popeye's Village, several bays and inlets and then on to the crystal clear waters of the island of Comino's famous Blue Lagoon for walking, swimming, snorkelling and sunbathing. Buffet lunches, cold drinks and typical Maltese snacks are usually included with the package as are the optional speedboat rides to the fascinating caves of Comino and other attractions.
