Trying to get pregnant can be difficult. Couples often ask themselves "How can we improves our chances of conceiving?" In fact, very few couples conceive on the first try. On average it takes a healthy couple several months of trying before they become successful. With this article I hope to show you some tips and advice on how to give yourself a better chance of conceiving quickly.

Stop taking the pill immediately. This make sound like a no-brainer, but the quicker you stop taking it the quicker your menstrual cycle will get back to normal. This will greatly improve your chances of getting pregnant.

Ensure you are having sex regularly on your "most fertile days" during your menstural cycle. Consult with your GP, local Family Planning Clinic or ovulation calender to ensure you are having sex when you're ovulating to increase chances of conception. Ovulation predictor kits can be bought that do the same job.

Quit smoking. Smoking greatly reduces your chances of getting pregnant. Also it can lead to, or be the cause of, miscarriages and birth defects.

Start taking folic acid on a regular basis. The intake of folic acid is recommended by doctors for women who are pregnant or trying to get pregnant as it helps reduce the risk of birth defects of the brain and spinal cords.

Check your weight. Women with a healthy weight have an easier time getting pregnant than under or overweight women. The ideal body mass index for a women trying to conceive is between 20 and 30.

Try and cut caffeine out of your diet altogether. This includes coffee, tea and cola drinks. If you cut these out you are giving your body an better chance to absorb iron therefore reducing the risk of stillbirth.
