Nakuru; A Tourist Attraction Town In Kenya

Tourist's attraction sites in Kenya are situated within the Great Rift Valley. Due to the attention that the Great Rift has attracted, major towns have developed to become big economic hubs. One town that commands a lot of respect in Kenya is Nakuru. It's the provincial capital of the Country's Rift Valley Province. The town has over 300,000 inhabitants and lies 1850m above sea level and it's a very important region endowed with vast resources that make tourism major source of income to the people.

Nakuru is home to Lake Nakuru and Nakuru National Park. The park is famous for the flock of flamingos that inhabit the area covering the entire region of the lake. The park is also the best place for tourists to watch the White Rhino. However, there other many wild animals that can be seen during a game drive. The region vast beauty ensures that your trip doesn't end there. Other places you should venture to include the Menengai Crater now a dormant volcano.

Nakuru is highly reputed for Menengai Crater because it's the second largest surviving volcanic crater in the world and has a depth of 483 m. It's easily accessed by foot or a vehicle. There different sporting activities one can engage into. Rift Valley Sports Club lies at the heart of the town and it's managed by the local Indian community. It host several cricket matches around the year. The town also hosts the annual rugby festival for the East African Region teams called "The Great Rift 10-a-side". Lastly one can visit Hyrax Hill a prehistoric site discovered by the famous Archaeological family; the Leakey's.
