The show has immensely likeable characters, which have become quite familiar to the audience. The viewers are always ready to celebrate the victories of the characters, and at the same time sympathize with their challenges.
As seen in the film, the show follows the Braver man family. It depicts the struggle of the adult members of the family, as they try to be grown ups and handle their kids. Sarah Braver man played by Lauren Graham is a single mom, who has shifted along with her teenage kids to her family home in Berkeley. Those who watch Parenthood would be aware of Craig T.Nelson, who plays Zeek, the father and grandfather of the Braver man family. He and his wife Camille played by Bonnie Be Delia, may have brought up the kids on their own, if they didnt have to deal with marital differences in their own relationship.
Another married couple, Adam and Kristina (Peter Krause and Monica Potter) depict quite a steady marriage, but later come to know that their son is suffering from Aspersers Syndrome. Similar to the married couple shown in the movie, Krause and Potter in the Parenthood TV show give an excellent performance, as they come to terms with their sons behavioral disorder and deal with it. In the film, Steve Martin plays the role of Adam and is depicted as going through a similar situation, when his son is diagnosed with the illness. Adam in the show tries to make his son lead a normal life, but later he and his wife find out that the illness is quite difficult to handle.
Similar to the movie, Sarah tries to strike a balance between being a mother and a woman. Those, who watch Parenthood will know that Lauran Graham outshines everyone in the role, as she finds that life has not turned out as expected, and she has to teach her children to behave in a better way.
Another character Crosby, played by Dax Sheppard, behaves like a youth trying to remain free from responsibilities, while his girlfriend has matured and wants to start her own family. Crosby plays the character in quite an amazing way ,and adds an element of comedy to the show.
Thus, the Parenthood TV show is not only about parenting and growing up but just like the film, it depicts these aspects with elements of comedy and drama, which makes the show quite entertaining and worth watching.
