Opt In List - Do You Actually Build It or Buy It?

Are you an email marketer? If so, you must have opt-in lists to be capable to keep selling your products or services and run your email marketing business. With the introduction of the CAN SPAM law in 2004, it is now unlawful to send bulk marketing emails with no express knowledge of the recipients and as such opt-in lists are important.

To build an opt-in list from bottom is not as easy as one would think. It is very difficult and takes plenty of time and hard work. It definitely requires you to write articles and have them submitted to article directories. All opt-in resources and tools ought to be created or bought. As an email marketer, you are going to spend a lot of working hours drawing up plans on strategies to increase your opt-in list. That really sounds troublesome.

When you are confronted with the work of email list building, a lot of marketers are mislead by those who give them the assurance that all those hard work are just not needed. They are advised to buy an opt-in list and save themselves most of that tedious work and trouble. Buying a list can be very tempting but then we should try as much as possible to avoid it.

Opt-in lists that are being sold has names and email addresses of those purported to be the best would-be customers but one one thing we forgot to ask is what type of names and addresses are in the list? Nearly everyone of them are simply names and email addresses of those who unknowingly opted in. They are for sure the names on the opt-in lists. However, double opt-in lists are the names of persons who opted in on intention and then verified by a return email that they truly opt in.

The truth is that nobody loves receiving hundreds of marketing emails everyday. Majority of the names on these double opt-in lists are individuals who belong to CAN SPAM watch-dog groups. As a matter of fact, nobody can give you consent to send email to an address if not the person whom the address belongs to and then they must exactly give that authorization to you.

Indeed apart from this, everything else should be avoided and treated as SPAM. For an effective list building, you should be prepared to build your email list yourself and not buying them.
