Ugandan Tourism

Uganda takes tourism very seriously. The focus is mainly on landscape and wildlife. The country started her journey in this sector way back in 1960s when visitors started streaming in hundreds of thousands. During that time the sector was the fourth largest foreign income earner. However it became destabilized by political turmoil but bounced back in 1980s. Since the 1990s the industry has stabilized and the country is now politically stable and offers the best attraction sites in East Africa.

Uganda has very diverse landscape, flora and fauna. The country has the best tropical forests in the region and the climate is also very favorable. Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is the most crucial gem of tourist attraction. It's the home to more than 300 Mountain Gorillas. The park contains half of the world's population of Gorilla. There are only three countries that you can find the Mountain Gorillas. The others include; Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of Congo. The animals are the prime attractions of the country. The other park that harbors the animals in the country is Mgahinga National Park.

Uganda opened gates to visitors in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park in1993. This led o the development of Gorilla tourism and the government went ahead to introduce methods to protect the animals that are very highly endangered. The animals are very close to human beings and great care is taken to prevent them from coming into contact with them. This is because they can contact human disease and further become endangered. There is also Queen Elizabeth National Park that conserves the Tree Climbing lions. These lions climb trees and rest on the top during the afternoons.
