Cowboy Hats And The Classic Country Stars Who Wore Them

Most people know that the cowboy hat is the pinnacle of any true American cowboys outfit. It is a familiar addition to a western wardrobe no matter where you are. It's hard to find something that is equally iconic.

It seems that lately more people are discovering the charm of country music. With worldwide satellite radio, you can hear Roseanne Cash, Emmylou Harris or Kenny Rogers no matter where you are. If it's still unfamiliar to you, you need to know about these famous artists who rocked a cowboy hat.

If you've been starting out on a car trip and caught yourself singing, "On the Road Again," then you are familiar with Mr. Willie Nelson. Nothing says classic pure country more than him or his great western style. He wears a hat well and you still get to see those infamous braids of hair that he wears.

Another famous singer who wore the hat with panache was Johnny Cash. What would "Burning Ring of Fire" be without the man in black? He is easily one of the most influential musicians the country music world has ever heard.

At the tender age of 14 years, a young Hank Williams started his career path by winning a talent contest. Little did he know then that "Your Cheatin' Heart" would be one of the many songs that would get him into the Country Music Hall of Fame. His hat was the icing on the cake of his sweet career.

Think it was only the men who wore the hats? Even while "Walking After Midnight," Patsy Cline wore a cowboy hat from time to time. Only some of her amazing outfits could ever detract from her amazing talent. Today, singers such as Garth Brooks, Kenny Chesney and Tim McGraw show off classic designs with a modern flair.

Cowboy hats add a little something special to those who perform while wearing them. It gives drama to a performance like nothing else can.

With former country legends paving the way, hats have been taken far from their original use. Once just needed to protect them from the sun is now a fashion statement must in the country music business. It's not country music without the cowboy hat.
