If My Delivery Is Lost Or Broken, Is It Insured?

When a Houston courier makes a delivery for you, almost every time that they do so your goods are going to be delivered on time, and in perfect condition. There are always those exceptions to the rule though, when something might happen to your package. Sometimes a package can become lost, in one of many ways, or it may sustain damage. The good news is that in either of these situations, your package should be complete insured through the insurance policy which is maintained by your courier.

Courier insurance is what your courier company will have purchased to cover the value of your goods while they are in transit. This type of insurance is very comprehensive, and in all but the most bizarre cases should provide the coverage you need should your package become a loss. A loss is essentially something that causes you to lose money on your item, whether it be lost or destroyed in any way.

Although it is not likely to happen all that often, when a package does go missing, there are various things that might cause it to be so. It could happen that a courier accidentally delivered it to the wrong address. It could also happen that the courier lost the package somewhere along the way, such as when transferring a shipment between vehicles. Sometimes packages get stolen as well. Any and all of these situations should be covered by the insurance that your courier company has in place.

The insurance is going to be equally comprehensive when it comes to damage that your package might sustain. Again, your package getting damaged is not an occurrence that will be experienced all that often, but when it does, there are a few different things which might cause it. First of all, a package being dropped is probably the most common cause of damage, with water damage from weather being a close second. These are both going to be insured against, as are more unique damaging situations. Fire and smoke damage, vandalism, damage which is caused by a vehicle accident, and just about anything else that you can imagine should all be insured against by the policy that your courier has in place.

If you're ever curious about the coverage your courier has, just ask them. They will tell you what is insured against, as well as what the maximum value of the coverage is. This may or may not prompt you to purchase additional insurance, if available.
