A Prom night is definitely an event that most of you have been waiting for ever since you started getting interested in the opposite sex. It means a whole lot of things to different people. The main focus of the occasion needs to be on having clean fun and a jolly good time together with your class. Sticking to this idea and then having maximum fun will make your Prom night exciting and wonderful.
A few kids have a distorted view of what a Prom should really be like. Their idea of a prom night might include drinking, indulging in sex or driving around town in the dead of night after drinking. Sometimes, even same kids are forced to indulge in these irresponsible activities due to peer pressure. Their upbringing would never allow them to stoop down to such low levels, but pressure from their peers can sometimes force them to drop their guard for just one night. Unfortunately, many have been killed or maimed lifelong just because their friends made them do something they never would have done themselves.
Advice for Girls
Most girls want to be the center of attraction during a prom night. There is nothing wrong with that desire. What a girl does to fulfill that desire is where things can go wrong. It is nice to be pretty, polite, sweet and interesting to talk to. These are nice ways to attract boys and have a good relationship going with them. But when a girl wants to use her body to gain attention, a lot of things can go wrong - sometimes, terribly wrong. Even grown up women, let alone inexperienced teens, cannot easily handle a situation when guy wants to cross the limit and force themselves on them. So you need to be very careful on how you are dressed. If you think that a revealing dress would get you a lot of attention, it might get you a lot more attention than you can handle for the rest of your life.
Many girls have ended up as unwed mothers just because they chose to dress differently' for their prom night. Other girls have shared the same fate because they willingly crossed the line just to please their date the date they never saw for the rest of their lives, and the dad their children never got to see.
Advice for Parents
It is difficult for parents to keep up with the times, when the times are changing so rapidly. But it is the responsibility of the parents to ensure the safety of their children. They need to ensure that their son doesn't get drunk on a prom night, drive and get killed. They need to ensure that their girl doesn't get pregnant during a prom sleep-over. It is easy to sound cool' and let your kids do what they want. It is tougher to ensure that they don't cross the limits you have imposed upon them. It is their life anyway, but their life is in your hands right now.
