The Best Avatar Kids Costumes Can Be Yours

Avatar is an action packed movie with incredible cinematography and fun characters. No wonder children and adults alike are fascinated with the story, and the characters of this mythical planet of Pandora. Now you can make avatar costumes for kids that could win awards.

Children like to emulate characters on the big screen. They like the security of being someone that they have a relationship with. Whether your child wants to be Neytiri or Jake Sully, you can be sure to find an easy way to make their character come to life.

Neytiri's costume is easy to find in any good costume shop. The costume tends to include everything you need, including a jumpsuit that zips up in back, a tail, an apron to cover the crotch, a feather necklace, bracelet and an arm gauntlet. It does not include a wig, so your child will either need a wig or to braid their hair.

The Jake Sully Avatar costume is one that can be purchased from a costume shop. However, it is also easy to put together from many boys' current wardrobes. With a blue turtleneck, a pair of black shoes, some khaki pants and a field or expedition jacket, you have almost all you need for your costume. As with the Neytiri costume, you will need a wig or to braid your son's hair to get the full effect. However, many of the Sully costumes include a mask. It is your choice if you have your child wear one or not.

While not many children would dress as Dr. Grace Augustine, the researcher and teacher, it would offer children an opportunity to dress up without feeling self conscious or feeling "naked". To Neytiri's typical costume, slip on a pink or white tank top and a pair of jeans.

The best way to make your child's Avatar costume really theirs is to use face paints instead of a mask. Start with a blue base coat of body paint to the shoulders, face, neck, lips, and ears. Paint black zebra-like or cat-like stripes on the face and accent with white dots between the stripes. You can use a bit of blush for color on the cheeks. Otherwise, remember to pin paper ears into the hair, as well as some feathers and beads.

Whatever role your child wants to play in their Avatar costumes for kids, Jake or Neytiri or any of the other Avatars or Na'vi, you can make their Halloween a safe and happy one. Make sure that they are dressed comfortably for the elements. Make sure that they can see effectively and be seen. Have them wear something that has reflective tape. Travel with them if you can, or make sure that your child goes with friends. Visit only houses where you know the families. And you and your child will have a happy and safe Halloween.
