subject: There Are Ways To Whiten Teeth [print this page]

Stains are a terrible thing. They find their way on to our clothes, furniture, walls, and even our teeth. Some stains are easier to remove then others. Fortunately with clothing, stains can be removed quickly with one wash cycle. Other stains require more effort to remove. Stained teeth is one such example. Teeth become discolored overtime. White teeth do not change to yellow with only a day of smoking. It is a process. Many substances stain teeth such as, tobacco, coffee, and sugar. Stains can also surface through poor dental hygiene habits. By not brushing and flossing consistently, discoloration can slowly begin to appear. It is the same thing with washing a car.

If you regularly wash your vehicle it will stay clean. If you let it go too long between washes, however, hard water, bugs and dirt can begin to stain the vehicle. Easier than removing such stains, is preventing these stains. Do you have yellow teeth? Do you feel like your teeth need whitened? If dental discoloration is a part of your life and you are looking for a remedy, there are several methods available to you.

First, try replacing your normal toothpaste with whitening toothpaste. The consistent use of whitening toothpaste overtime can make your teeth shine. This is the easiest thing to do, but it may not bring about the white you are looking for. If not, try using whitening strips. These are small strips of plastic that you put over your teeth for several minutes. The whitening agent is more powerful than toothpaste and can show results in a matter of weeks. Many dentists offer a whitening procedure as well. This procedure will leave your teeth whiter before you even leave the office. It is more expensive and can leave the teeth feeling sensitive, but it is a wonderfully quick way to get the yellow off. If you are feeling desperate to get rid of more permanent stains, you can pursue getting veneers.

These are shells bonded to the teeth. A new layer of white. This is by far the most expensive option. Cosmetic dentists perform this procedure. The good news is that even if you live in Des Moines, Salt Lake City, Sacramento or Boston, cosmetic dentistry is to be found almost anywhere. If you are feeling more natural, use a dose of baking soda on your teeth when brushing. It is a natural whitener.
