Top Ten Car Insurance Companies

If we're going to list the top ten car insurance companies, then we should mention right up front that you don't necessarily need to go with one of these companies for the best deal. These aren't invariably the best, they're not the only companies worth looking at, they're simply the companies with the best overall track records. You might find a much better deal with some lesser known company, or with a local company. Don't tie yourself to any of these companies below, just use this as a general guideline.

AllState

AllState has a strong track record and offers a lot of bonuses for longtime customers who drive safely. There honestly aren't a whole lot of companies that reward you for safe driving, so this is definitely a bonus.

Prudential
Top Ten Car Insurance Companies

Prudential is known for effective coverage and for actually delivering without a whole lot of rigamarole. There are a lot of companies that will bend over backwards to never pay you a dime, but Prudential isn't amongst them.

State Farm

State Farm tends to focus not on low prices or incentives, but on making their customers feel safe. With roadside assistance and other programs that help stranded and endangered drivers, they do that well.

Esurance

Simply put: Some of the best prices around. The commercials boast that they show you everyone else's prices as well as their own, and that's true. They do, typically, have great prices if you want less than full coverage and just want a good deal.

Geico

Geico CAN save you fifteen percent or more, if you fall into a certain range of qualifications. Really, though, their commercials cost hundreds of millions of dollars to produce, and that money has to come from somewhere.

Progressive

Often considered the very best company out there when it comes to claims and customer service. You'll be treated better by Progressive than you will by almost anyone else.

21st Century

21st Century will usually show you their prices and quotes alongside Geico, and usually, they'll beat them hands down. Obviously, it depends on what sort of coverage you're looking for, but they do tend to have great prices.

AAA

Triple A is one of the longest running insurance companies out there and they've always held a reputation for fast service and good customer reps.

Nationwide

Nationwide is known for combining great, low prices, with top notch customer service and the willingness to actually pay claims. Typically, all you want is a low price, since most insurers will not pay out, but Nationwide does with no runaround at all.

Liberty Mutual

Great customer service and very low prices, so, what more do you need?
