Half Term Holiday Fun In North Norfolk

The kids have just gone back to school and parents all over the country are breathing a collective sigh of relief. But half-term is only a few weeks away and so it's a good idea to have some plans in place before the children start wondering what they're going to do during their next stretch of time off.

If you haven't already made plans and East Anglia is within your reach, I'd recommend a weekend break Norfolk way, or indeed, if you can afford the time, the whole half-term. North Norfolk Hotels always fill up with families during the school holidays, but it's easy to see why, as there's so much to do in this part of the world, from cycling, bird-watching and walking to simply pottering around the shops.

Little ones will enjoy crabbing at Blakeney and strolling along the pier in Cromer, while adventurous older children could have a go at horse-riding, or perhaps learn to drive a powerboat in Wells-next-the-Sea. Meanwhile, older members of the family will no doubt enjoy visiting the National Trust properties in the area; Blickling Hall in Itteringham near Norwich, and Felbrigg Hall in Cromer, as well as the vast expanse of Sheringham Park which has something to offer at every time of the year.

Those staying in Norfolk luxury hotels should also put Holt on their agenda, as this lovely, little, Georgian town is packed full of places to visit and things to see and do, from signings by well-known authors at The Holt Bookshop (Stephen Fry will be there this month), to exhibitions by famous artists in the town's many galleries. And then there are the destinations aimed especially at those staying in hotels in North Norfolk; tourist attractions such as the purpose-built, 50-acre Bewilderwood treehouse adventure park in Hoveton near Wroxham; the children's farm and funfair at Wroxham Barns; and, of course, the many boat trips along the Broads.

This lovely area has something to offer at any time of the year, but if you're still stuck for something to do during the half-term holidays, plan a trip to Norfolk and you won't be disappointed.
