Bois De Boulogne- Trekking Into A Deep Forest In Paris

Paris is a city that is as well-known for its romance as it is for its breathtaking architecture and its landscaped parks. Many visitors to Paris are drawn in by the citys ability to amalgamate a busy commercial city with one filled with history, romance and culture. Architects and city planners all over the world have speculated that this effortless marriage between the two is largely due to the citys parks and common areas that modulate the stark differences between the modern and old cities.

One such park in Paris is the Bois de Boulogne, which is located on an expansive 2,000 acres of land on the 16th arrondissement. For purposes of comparison, the park is more than twice the size of Central Park in New York and is slightly larger than Richmond Park in London. The Bois de Boulogne, though a relatively tame city park today, used to be a royal game reserve and even gained notoriety as a hiding place for rogues during the early years of the new millennium.

The park also holds a special place in the history of Science and Technology, as it was the site of the successful hot-air balloon launch by the Montgolfier brothers in the November of 1783. The Bois du Boulogne was created in its present form by Napoleon III in the 19th century and has since been a favorite haunt of Parisians.

The Bois du Boulogne holds a certain magic for visitors as it still holds a little bit of mystery amongst its oak lined walkways and wooden bridges. The centuries-old trees and the vast expanses of lush greenery enables the visitor to feel as if they are wondering to a forest away from human habitation. Despite its mystery and magic, the Bois du Boulogne is located close to many a deluxe hotel Paris. Due to its location in the city, a luxury hotel Paris such as the Le Royal Monceau, Paris France can be found within easy access of the park.
